Mushrooms: Alexander Viazmensky Knowledge Cards

A deceptive knight, a lawyer's wig, and a scarlet elfcup? If you know what they have in common, you are likely a mushroom enthusiast. Beyond their intriguing names, mushrooms are known for their sustainability, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical properties, and such disparate use as in dyes and decorations. New studies and explorations are popping up like, well, mushrooms! This deck of knowledge cards presents 48 species, a mere sampling of a fungi group reputedly in the millions, with only 14,000 varieties officially described. Artist Alexander Viazmensky calls mushrooms "flowers of the woods." For decades he has specialized in painting life-sized mushroom portraits and personality-filled bouquets. His botanical artwork is held in museums and scientific collections around the world.
